The Technical Universities
Senior Administrators Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) has declared that its
indefinite strike would resume on Monday, July 20, 2026. This ruling comes
after the government failed to make previously agreed-upon payments for unpaid research
and interim allowances.

After the minister of education
promised to settle research allowances by March 30, 2026, the union had already
suspended its industrial action on December 22, 2025. The payments have not
been made even after this date has passed and assurances have been made.
Additionally, TUSAAG is criticizing the government's inexplicable decision to
postpone the April 1, 2026, implementation of a 40% rise in non-basic allowance
and market premium.
All ten technical
universities in the nation will be affected by the impending strike, which will
have an impact on vital functions like admissions, exams, human resources, and
general administration. The union maintains that this step is required to address
the government's lack of urgency, even if TUSAAG is still open to discussion.
This action exacerbates the escalating labor disputes that Ghana's higher
education system is already experiencing.
