The Korle Bu Teaching
Hospital's Renal Unit has received a kind donation of GH¢100,000 to improve
patient care and dialysis services. On behalf of President John Dramani Mahama,
Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Presidential Envoy on Interfaith and Ecumenical
Relations, spearheaded this contribution.
The money came from the
July 1, 2026, National Day of Thanksgiving, which raised GH¢36,570. The Envoy's
office added GH¢64,000 to the total.
The hospital's chief
executive, Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam, expressed sincere appreciation and mentioned
that the unit offers crucial round-the-clock care. In order to provide patients
long-term optimism, the hospital is advancing kidney transplant procedures in
addition to dialysis.
With plans to add 25 more
machines to improve services, the unit currently runs 30 machines and serves at
least 90 people per day. But in order to enhance comfort during lengthy
four-hour sessions, Dr. John Edward Mensah, Head of Urology and Nephrology, emphasized
the continued need for larger beds. He and Hon. Ankrah are urging people and
businesses to keep up their support for the unit is crucial mission.
