Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, has had luxury assets seized as a result of a joint investigation by Ghanaian and American law officials.
The Swedru-based
31-year-old was recently extradited to the US after being detained in Ghana in
December 2025. Between 2023 and 2025, Kumi and a co-defendant allegedly stole
more than $8 million from more than 80 elderly American victims.
According to the inquiry,
the couple targeted widows and divorcees using social media and online dating
services. Kumi allegedly pretended to be someone else using AI-powered video
technology, enticing victims with fictitious offers of inheritances before
requesting money transfers.
Law enforcement in Ghana confiscated a mansion and a collection of expensive cars, including a Lamborghini, a Tesla Cybertruck, a Mercedes Benz, and a BMW, in response to these accusations.
Kumi is being accused of conspiring to commit money
laundering and wire fraud. He might spend up to 20 years behind bars if found
guilty. Until a court of law finds him guilty, he is still innocent.
