The public is strongly advised by
the Securities and Exchange Commission to avoid 23 unlicensed online investing
platforms. These businesses do not have the legal licence necessary to oversee
capital market operations in Ghana, according to a recent notification from the
Commission.
Among the names on the list of organisations that have been highlighted are
AfriHub, BG Wealth, BP Investment, Mazzuma, and the Ultima Cryptocurrency
Group. Officials emphasise that these sites utilise social media to entice
gullible people with alluring promises. The SEC is working closely with law
enforcement to find and prosecute those responsible for these illicit
activities in order to counter this threat.
It is highly recommended that citizens check the license status of any
financial platform before investing hard-earned money.
By contacting the SEC's toll-free
number or submitting an email to their official service desk, anybody may
quickly determine whether a company is formally registered. Authorities believe
that this timely warning would help shield regular investors from experiencing
significant financial losses in fraudulent endeavours.
