NDC Branch Organizer Granted GH¢200,000 Bail Over Alleged False Claims About Bawumia

Prince Aboagye, a National Democratic Congress organiser for the Agona West branch, appeared in court after allegedly disseminating insulting and misleading remarks about former Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on TikTok.

Atutulagh, a 39-year-old lottery agent, is accused of disseminating false information and engaging in aggressive behaviour that could lead to a disturbance. He entered a not guilty plea during his court appearance. The judge postponed the hearing until August 19, 2026, and gave him bail of GH¢200,000, requiring three sureties, one of which must be justified by landed property.

The Ghana Police Service reported the TikTok video on the account @atutulagh in July 2026, according to Assistant Superintendent of Police Seth Frimpong. According to investigators, the content was intentionally made to incite a disturbance of the peace.

Aboagye acknowledged in his caution statement after his arrest on July 19, 2026, that he had personally recorded and released the video, but he also acknowledged that the statements he had made were false.
