At the Accra
International Airport, authorities have successfully stopped a sizable illicit
tramadol cargo. Three suspects in the attempted importation were apprehended as
a result of an intelligence-driven operation led by the Narcotics Control
Commission (NACOC).
There were almost five
million tablets in the confiscated shipment, with an estimated GH¢100 million
street value. According to preliminary research, these medications were meant
to be distributed throughout Ghana and the larger sub-region.
Officials are currently
attempting to identify additional people participating in the illegal business
since they believe this seizure is linked to a much larger drug trafficking
network. While forensic investigations are ongoing, the recovered tablets are
currently being retained as evidence. NACOC has reiterated its commitment to
dismantling drug cartels and safeguarding national security.
The three suspects will
be hauled before the court to face charges in line with Ghanaian law after
their investigations are finished. To help law enforcement keep the nation
secure, the Commission is urging the public to remain watchful and report any
suspicious activity in the meantime.
