The 26th King of the Denkyira Kingdom is being prepared for coronation and enthronement.
The Denkyira
Traditional Council has declared that all funerals, loud noises, and public
gatherings are prohibited within the Denkyira Traditional Area as part of the
process.
The regulation
will be in effect until Friday, November 7, 2025, having begun on Monday,
September 22, 2025.
Nana Gyekye
Annim III, speaking at an Oman Council meeting at Amponsem Ahenfie in Dunkwa
Abankesiɛso, Denkyira Abakomahene, clarified that the step is required to
establish a calm environment for the traditional observances, ceremonies, and
sacred rites that take place prior to the installation of a new monarch.
He underlined that the time leading up to the
coronation is a time of purification, unification, and introspection for the
entire kingdom and that it holds spiritual significance for the Denkyira
people.
He asserted
that social events like loud music, funerals, and other get-togethers could
disrupt the process's solemnity.
As people of
Denkyira, it is time for us to unite in discipline and respect. We will carry out the rites not just for the
future king but also for the kingdom's advancement and harmony," said Nana
Gyekye Annim III.
In the
traditional territory, he called on chiefs, opinion leaders, and people living
in various areas to completely collaborate with the council.
Additionally,
he warned that anyone who disobeys the order will be subject to the usual
penalties.
Additionally, the council instructed mosques,
churches, clubs, and event planners to halt all loud activities until the end
of the period.
According to
Nana Gyekye Annim III, the King-elect will be formally proclaimed by the
Traditional Council on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Amponsem Ahenfie's Jukwa
courtyard. This will be followed by a number of holy rites and ceremonies,
culminating in the coronation.
