According to authorities and a notice seen by Reuters, U.S. government agencies will provide all senators with a classified briefing on Wednesday regarding China's purported efforts, dubbed Salt Typhoon, to infiltrate American telecom companies and steal caller data.

According to the authorities, the briefing is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET and will include participation from the FBI, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, Chair of the Federal Communications Commission Jessica Rosenworcel, the National Security Council, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

Separately, officials said that a hearing on the Salt Typhoon cyberattack will be held on December 11 by a U.S. Senate Commerce panel.

The briefing comes as worries about the extent and magnitude of the alleged Chinese hacking into American telecommunications networks are mounting, as do enquiries about when businesses and the government would be able to reassure citizens about the situation. The White House refrained from commenting right away.

According to earlier allegations made by the U.S. officials, the hackers acquired a significant amount of call record data and telephone audio intercepts from Verizon (VZ.N), AT&T (T.N), T-Mobile (TMUS.O), and other companies.

According to Chinese officials, Beijing "firmly opposes and combats cyber attacks and cyber theft in all forms." They have previously called the accusations false.

On Tuesday, CISA informed reporters that it was unable to provide a timeline for eliminating all hackers from America's telecom networks.

"It would be impossible for us to predict when we'll have full eviction," stated Jeff Greene about CISA.
