Following violent
altercations between Okuapeman Senior High School and Mount Sinai Senior High
School in the Eastern Region, police have detained over ten teenagers. Early on
Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the retaliatory strikes began, destroying buildings
and injuring six students. Two of the injured pupils are still in the hospital,
but four have received treatment and been released.
DCOP Joseph Owusu-Bempah,
the commander of the Eastern Regional Police, confirmed the arrests and issued
a warning that pupils who run will face consequences. A complete list of every
person involved in the violence is now being compiled by investigators.
Remarkably, initial inquiries indicate that several educators might have
actively encouraged pupils to target their competitors. Police already have the
names of the involved instructors, according to DCOP Owusu-Bempah, and they
will prosecute anyone found guilty.
Authorities are advising
calm even though the precise cause of the violent altercation is still being
investigated. Students have been asked by police to go back to school, assist
with existing investigations, and let the law run its course without outside
intervention.
