GES Unveils Official 2026/2027 SHS Academic Calendar

The comprehensive academic schedule for senior high schools and senior high technical schools for the 2026–2027 academic year has been formally announced by the Ghana Education Service (GES). The calendar, which is released by the GES Public Relations Unit, provides parents and children with precise dates to plan ahead for both single-track and transitional school systems.

In single-track schools, the first semester for Form One and Form Two students begins on September 18, 2026, and ends on January 29, 2027. Students will return for their second semester on March 30, following a well-earned break from January 30 to March 29. The academic year will end on July 30, 2027.

On September 18, 2026, final-year Form Three pupils will also report for their first semester, which ends on December 18. The seniors will return on February 1 to finish their last term, concluding their academic career on June 18, 2027, after a brief holiday break from December 19 to January 31, 2027. Throughout the forthcoming academic year, this open roadmap seeks to maintain alignment among all educational stakeholders.
