Two Bolgatanga Girls
Senior High School watchmen have been placed under interdict by the Ghana
Education Service (GES) in response to a special needs student's alleged sexual
assault. The incident happened while the student needed medical attention due to
a medical recurrence.
The GES turned both
watchmen over to the police for additional investigation in order to guarantee
a thorough probe. In an official statement released on Thursday, August 20, the
education authority confirmed that a thorough investigation is currently in
progress. Following the completion of investigations, the GES Code of Conduct
will be strictly enforced through the application of relevant legal sanctions
and internal administrative procedures.
The GES issued a severe
warning to all school employees nationwide, reiterating its stance. It said
that there will be no tolerance for any behavior endangering pupils' safety,
dignity, or physical health.
Lastly, the
administration of the school reminded the public, parents, and guardians that
the well-being of the students is still their first priority. They pledged to
give the troubling matter the serious consideration and high-level attention it
so richly merits.
