Discover Temperature Sensing with Your Pixel Phone
SOURCE: How To Geek

To check the temperature of your food or beverages, you do not need a thermometer. You can do that with your Google Pixel phone. I frequently worry about drinking too hot of a beverage. This issue is resolved by my Pixel 9 Pro XL. It is quick and simple to measure temperature.

Pixel’s Thermometer App for Easy Measurements

A thermometer app is included with the Google Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. You may examine the temperature of an object using a tiny sensor next to the camera. These phones come with the app pre-installed. Download it from the Google Play Store if you are unable to locate it. Although not of medical quality, the readings are trustworthy for daily use.

How to Measure Temperatures with Your Pixel

The Thermometer app is easy to use. From the app drawer on your phone, launch the application. To access the main screen, tap "Object Temperature". Next, decide what kind of object you wish to measure. Food, liquid, or cooking surfaces are your options.

Here’s what each category covers:

  • Food: includes items like meat, vegetables, fruits, dairy, or eggs.
  • Liquid: covers water, milk, oil, wine, soy sauce, or honey.
  • Cooking Surfaces: includes pans like stainless steel, cast iron, or non-stick.

Keep your phone two inches away from the item. For a precise reading, keep it steady. The temperature is displayed in real time on the screen. Tap the circle on the screen to store the reading. It was quite drinkable when I tried it with my morning coffee. I also assess if the food from takeout needs to be reheated.

Tap "Save" at the bottom to save the measurement. Tap "Delete" to get rid of it. Tap the arrow icon if you need to take another measurement. Your measurements are recorded by the app. To compare temperatures across time, you can go back and review them later.

Fixing Temperature Measurement Problems

There may be a problem if the app provides readings that are not reliable. An unsuitable phone case or dust on the sensor could be the source. Remove any case and gently clean the sensor. Usually, this resolves the issue.

The Thermometer app on the Pixel is a useful tool. It is ideal for inspecting your cooking surfaces, beverages, and meals. You can make sure your food or drink is at the perfect temperature with a few taps. Give it a try and incorporate temperature checks into your daily routine.
