Four males and four women, ages 20 to 35, were among the eight people shot at the property. According to authorities, a "social gathering" in Chicago on Monday resulted in three fatalities and five injuries. During a press conference, Chief of Police Jon P.
Hein stated that officers from the Chicago Police Department responded to a call regarding a person shot near the 3500 block of West 59th Street at around 2:10 p.m. on December 2. When officers arrived, they learnt that eight people—four men and four women—had been shot and called for medical assistance.
Hein said that everyone there was between the ages of 20 and 35 and that they were there for what "appeared to be a social gathering."All three of the dead were men," Hein stated.
Local affiliates WFLD and WGN-TV say, citing the Chicago Police Department, that one of the deceased guys was an adult who was shot "to the head, chest, right thigh, and right wrist" and passed away at the hospital, even though none of the victims have been made public.
According to the reports, the two other people were declared dead at the scene after suffering "multiple gunshot wounds to the body.".
The Chicago Police Department was contacted by PEOPLE, but they did not respond right away.
Hein acknowledged during Monday's press conference that "there have been calls of service at this residence," but he said it is too soon to determine a motive.
He promised that the department would track down the person or people who were behind the "heinous, terrible incident." When shots were fired, neighbours told WLS-TV that a big house party was taking place.
El Towers, a witness, told the network, "I started hearing shots, very loud shots, maybe a lot of them." I'm not sure how many.
