Due to a hamstring injury, Real Madrid striker Vinicius Jr. will not play for his team against Liverpool in the Champions League.
The Brazilian was on the pitch the entire time Real Madrid defeated Leganes 3-0 in La Liga on Sunday. On Wednesday, Madrid, currently ranked 18th out of 36 teams in the Champions League standings, will visit Anfield to play table-topping Liverpool.
Vinicius Jr. was left off of the La Liga team's 19-man travelling squad for the trip to Merseyside due to "an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg."
The Brazil international may be out for three weeks, according to the Spanish publication Marca, but Madrid has not commented on how serious the injury is. After Madrid's declaration, Vinicius Jr. wrote on X: "Wacky calendar. It's time to heal.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, a defender, is unlikely to be available for Liverpool's visit to Anfield when the 15-time European Cup champions arrive.
Due to a hamstring injury he suffered prior to the international break, the England right-back was unable to play in Sunday's 3-2 victory over Southampton.
