Nana Kojo Essel, the chief of Buduburam, has urged the locals to use caution as the investigation into a rock blasting that left three people dead and numerous more injured has started.
Residents have been warned by Nana Essel not to impose laws on their own by attacking the contractor in retaliation as planned.
In a Tuesday speech, Nana Kojo Essel asked his people to support the contractor's continuation of the construction and promised to ensure that all impacted victims received compensation.
To ensure that the people receive the justice they deserve, he issued a warning against politicisation of the matter.
As part of Nag Fairmont's building project, the mishap happened on Monday afternoon while workers were blasting rock along the Buduburam portion of the Accra-Winneba route.
Tuesday saw a courtesy call by certain government officials, Central Regional Minister Marigold Assan and Minister of Information Fatimatu Abubakar, on behalf of the Gomoa Buduburam chief and a few people who were affected.
During the visit, Nana Kwesi Quansah, also known as Akwesi Alhaji, the Omankrado of Gomoa Fetteh, asked for calm as Nananom worked with the government and the contractor to provide compensation to the victims.
Solomon Darko Quarm, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa East, also pleaded with the people of Buduburam not to take any actions that would cause chaos. The Ministry of Roads and Highways has started looking into what caused the rock blast disaster in the interim.
According to the Ministry, it is closely collaborating with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Ghana Police Service to verify the exact number of individuals impacted and guarantee that those who sustain injuries receive the required medical care.
