In the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying for 2025, Black Stars attacker Mohammed Kudus has not been able to lead his team to victory.
After Thomas Partey was ruled out of the team's doubleheader qualifier against Sudan, the West Ham United forward was named captain. The 23-year-old failed to motivate the team despite his hopes of leading them to triumphs.
Despite having multiple opportunities, the Black Stars were unable to score in the opening leg at the Accra Sports Stadium last Thursday. Today, October 15, the Black Stars lost 2-0 in the return match played at the Martyrs of February Stadium.
The Falcons won thanks to goals from Mohamed Abdelrahman and Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud in the second half. Ghana now sits in third place in Group F after four games due to the results, having only two points.
The Black Stars will play their last qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium against Niger before heading to Luanda, Portugal, to take on Angola the following month. Whether Mohammed Kudus will lead the squad in the last two games is still up in the air.
