After his contract with the French team expired last season, Ghanaian captain Andre Ayew was left without a club until he decided to rejoin Le Havre AC in Ligue 1. The 34-year-old forward had a brief period of time with Le Havre during the previous season.
He has played for teams including Olympique de Marseille, Swansea City, West Ham United, and Nottingham Forest. With five goals in 19 Ligue 1 games, Ayew had a significant influence and helped the team stay in the top division. Le Havre did not immediately extend his contract in spite of his contributions.
However, with the squad unable to score—just netting seven goals this season—Le Havre decided to bring Ayew back. After expressing his wish to remain with the team, the seasoned forward has now inked a contract that will keep him at Le Havre through the end of the current campaign.
Ayew intends to be a major contributor to Le Havre's campaign, especially given the team's goal-scoring deficiencies. His ability to perform well when needed could help the squad win more games and even rekindle his dream of playing for the Black Stars.
Discussions on his future with Ghana have been generated by his recent absence from the national team, and he may need to demonstrate impressive club form in order to be called up for future international matches.
