Heightened Security Grips Kumasi Amid Recent Killings

Tension has now descended on Ghana's vibrant city of Kumasi after the violent murders of two men, one of whom was Alhaji Abdul-Malik Azenbge, a Kusaase chief. These violent crimes took place in the crowded area of Asawase throughout the last three days. Kumasi has seen an increase in police presence, with policemen erecting barricades on main thoroughfares. In a concerted effort to apprehend the culprits, the police have begun a massive operation that involves searching the city. In a public address, Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe urged composure and collaboration. He reassured the locals that the police are making every effort to find and apprehend the guilty parties.
