On Friday, December 27, the 55-year-old Pioneer Woman writer posted a number of images to her Instagram Stories that featured her children spending quality time with their pets at their ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
“Paige Lucy,” Ree first wrote over a photo of her daughter Paige Drummond, 25, embracing her white Labrador Lucy.
“Bryce Bassets,” she continued, sharing a snap of her son Bryce Drummond, 22, lying on the floor with two hounds climbing on top of him.
Shortly after, the other dogs, including Lucy, Aspin, Shelby, and fellow basset hounds Fred and Rusty, joined in around her son. Ree wrote over a picture of Bryce with the dogs, "The dogs love to smell all the smells when the guys get back from working cattle."
In the pictures, Bryce's arm was in a cast following surgery for a football injury, and his jeans and hoodie were covered in dung and dirt. Ree added a video of her two children sitting on their home's steps and petting all the dogs as a follow-up post.
The Barking Dogs' rendition of "Jingle Bells" played in the backdrop of the video while the two eagerly interacted with the dogs. But in a different article, Ree claimed that one dog was more interested in sniffing around a cooler box than in having his belly stroked.
The pleased dog mom captioned the shot, "I love how Fred goes and tries to check out the sandwiches from lunch."
Ree told PEOPLE earlier this year that because of foundation and plumbing problems with their previous house, they chose to build a new house on their ranch instead of remodelling it.
"We loved raising our kids in the house, but it had foundation problems and had developed a few problems that were going to be pretty overwhelming to fix,” she said.
The family recently gathered together for Christmas, days after daughter Alex and son-in-law Mauricio Scott welcomed their daughter Sofia Marie on Dec. 18.
