After her mother turned down a thoughtful birthday present, she crafted by hand, a woman is seeking comfort from the Reddit community. "I like to sew, so I thought it would be a good idea to make her a quilt," the lady says in an anonymous post.
I decided to turn some of the squares into family portraits, so I printed out some family images on fabric and incorporated them into the quilt. At first, the mother was thrilled with the quilt, which featured pictures of their family.
But the happiness was short-lived as soon as the matriarch saw their family dog was gone. The mother was disappointed, saying that leaving her "youngest son" out of the family-themed gift was "cruel."
The family became strained as a result of the exchange. Her brother sided with their mother, but the poster's father backed her.
She writes, "I just can't leave out family members in a 'family-themed' quilt," which makes her brother feel upset with her. The woman claims that her mother hasn't even touched the blanket since getting the gift and has declared it to be "missing."
She adds, "I tried to get the quilt out from under the bed so I could take pictures of it, but I couldn't find it." I asked my father, but he had no idea what I was talking about. We looked all over the house but were unable to locate it.
"She had the dog for around 6 years now and has mentioned quite a few times that she values the dog's life over human children's lives," the woman explained after receiving criticism from Redditors.
She explains that she purposefully left off the dog, but it's because her mom already has a tonne of pictures of dogs on a wall in her house.
Users have expressed differing views on the matter since she revised her Reddit post. "Your mom seems really unappreciative.
With the entire human family, you created a quilt for her. A response like your mother's would be viewed as incredibly impolite in my bubble," one person comments.
“Your mom is a little overboard with how she treats the dog, but this quilt was for her. If it were a gift for me, I would want them included,” says another.
A third comment is, “You put your time and effort into making a thoughtful and meaningful gift for your mom; she should be appreciative no matter what.”
