Berthold Kobby Winkler Ackon, better known online as Wodemaya (born on March 3, 1990), is a Ghanaian YouTuber, digital media influencer, YouTube celebrity, and aeronautical engineer. In Chinese, his name is Wode Maya (Wƒ de MƔqīn), which means "My Mother.
"He recorded a bus ride in 2017 in which the seats next to him were unoccupied and other passengers stood because of the colour of his skin. The video went viral. He is regarded as one of Africa's leading and most influential YouTubers.
He resigned his profession as an aeronautical engineer and began vlogging about his experiences in China while still a student. The Mandarin phrase wƒ de mā ya (我的妈呀, lit. "Oh, my mom!"), which roughly translates to "Oh my god!" In English is the source of his nickname Wode Maya.
He officially launched his own real estate business in December 2021, naming it 'CHARLIEMAG Estate' and stating that it would be situated in East Legon. In 2023, he was one of six well-known YouTubers from around the globe who were asked to cover the World Economic Forum's annual summit.
Additionally, he received an invitation to cover the Munich Security Conference in 2023.
Wode Maya hails from the Western Ghanaian region of Ahekofi, Kofikrom. Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) was his school. Miss Trudy, a YouTuber from Kenya, is Wode Maya's spouse. After being moved by a man in Kwahu, Wode Maya contributed over $10,000 to turn a dumpsite into a park.
He assisted in raising $10,000 in 2021 to support one hundred children's educational requirements. He urged people to engage in similar activities and asserted that it went beyond a simple contribution.
At the 2022 Entertainment Achievement Awards, Wode Maya took home the title of Online Creator of the Year.
