Richard Ofori |
Richard Ofori, the custodian for AmaZulu, recently joined the team as a free agent and is eager to revitalise his career there. The Ghanaian custodians, Veli Mothwa, Olwethu Mzimela, and Kwanele Mbanjwa, will be vying for the top jersey at Usuthu.
The 30-year-old, who formerly played for Maritzburg United [now Durban City], brings a wealth of experience to the team and is well-known in KwaZulu-Natal. Ofori told the reporters, "I need to concentrate on how to better myself and how to make things right here at AmaZulu."
The most crucial thing is that we work together as a team and that I don't just consider myself. We must also consider the other participants. We are here to work and to better one another.
Ofori claimed there were other offers after leaving the Orlando Pirates at the end of the previous season, but he was hesitant since he was holding out for the ideal chance.
He remarked, "One thing about football is that you sometimes have to get a new opportunity and new experience after leaving one club." I got a few [offers], but it wasn't what I was hoping to find.
After waiting for the ideal moment, AmaZulu called, and I was thrilled to come because this place truly seemed home.
"I didn't think twice when I received that call because it was the chance I had been waiting for." Since coming to Durban, which is not my first visit, things have gone well. For a few years, I lived here.
"Everything has been going well even though I had a few challenges because of the change of coaches."
Ofori made his debut on Friday at King Zwelithini Stadium during AmaZulu's 2-1 loss to Stellenbosch in the Carling Knockout last-16 encounter.
